The Art of Rules « Thread Started on Jul 19, 2008, 10:25pm »
Rules and Regulations. Being the terrible oppressors that we are, the shackles of rules and regulations, I’m afraid, must bind you (Manic Laugh).
As a member of this site, one is indeed required to follow these rules strictly. If breached the following procedure will be initiated.
1st Violation: polite warning 2nd Violation: not so polite warning 3rd Violation: rabid and furious warning complete with mouth foam. 4th Violation: banishment.
Of course, being cruel overlords, our judgment isn’t restricted to those boundaries, and situations will be judged on individual situations based on severity and what not.
The Rules/Guidelines are as follows:
Golden Rule: Don’t Be Stupid: Everyone hates the typical newbie who waltzes in thinking they’re big and bad, throwing fireballs and tornadoes in every direction. Be realistic. It know it’s hard not wanting your character to be the baddest thing since the late great Chuck Norris, but seriously- NOBODY wants to create with an egocentric. Now stupidity is a rather broad concept, but most of us (hopefully) know how to be courteous, respectful and an overall positive addition to our bonnie site. Now if anybody doesn’t know the former, I’m sure either I or and of the other Administrators or Moderators would be glad to technologically beat some cybernetic sense into you. Think before you type! Don’t submit to the more volatile of human emotions, and get to flaming the innocent with internet slang and obscenities! Think! Trust me, being nice to people is a really, really good idea.
To spell it out for you: Follow basic forum etiquette! No obscene language, racist or blatantly prejudice remarks, “godmodding” (aka treating your character like superman), disrespect, double posting and definitely- under penalty of death- (sigh) rickrolling. Quite simply: do the right thing!
Not So Golden, But Equally Important Rule: Learn to Roleplay correctly: Now we all have our own judgments upon writing and creativity, and we aren’t trying to limit basic rights such as freedom of speech and expression. However, if we can’t understand your writing, something needs to change. Quite sadly, most of our staff consists of pretentious writers and grammar snobs; and although we may not publically ridicule your writing, we will snicker and talk about you behind your backs. It’s a sick reality.
Regardless though, RPing is a very creative, expressional activity and we encourage you to be imaginative with your writing. Don’t be afraid to let loose, for your characters are your own creations, and your writing style is completely your own. Do what you like, if it’s within sane reason. We've developed an academy where you can learn the basic ropes of writing well and developing RP skills, so have at it! We back imagination and creative expression 100%. So please, surprise us with some high quality mosaics of Shakespearean poetry in the form of Avatar the last Airbender Roleplay!
The Kind of Shiny? Rule: If you have any problems- be it personal, site related, or otherwise- don’t be afraid to contact an Administrator/Moderator. We’re honestly here to help, despite our sick senses of humor and uncanny good looks. We want to make this site a creative portal for expressing your avatar dreams. I mean obviously, none of us can bend, so we created this site! We are indeed here for you, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
The Lazy Forwarding Rule: Now the more fine print of rules: regarding character creation, canon characters, forum games, RP boards, etc. are located in their respective boards under a labeled thread.
Welcome to Avatar: A Revolution, The Phoenix King has been defeated. The comet has come and gone. Five years have passed, and Avatar Aang and his friends seem to be on their way to the foretold era of peace.
Things are not that simple. Things are never that simple. A hundred years of war and destruction cannot be patched up with a single bandage. Rebellions have sprung up in all the countries, and new names and faces have began gaining fame either for their tries towards peace, or their attempts against the tide.
