/Basic Info\[/u]
Name:
Nazar
Age:
21
Alias:
Captain Zero; Frozen Hawk
Nation:
If you were to ask Nazar what Nation he belonged to, his answer would be none. His mother was a Southern Water Tribe woman who's tryst with a Northern Water Tribe bender resulted in Nazar's being born out of wedlock. First raised in the North, then shipped to the South, Nazar's mistreatment led to an urge to escape, which led to him somehow finding his way to the Swamp in the Earth Kingdom and spending some time there. However, after becoming a pirate, his services were often paid for by the Fire Nation so he spent a lot of time there.
Occupation:
Pirate
Political Standpoint/Allegience:
The Highest Bidder
Himself and his Personal Well Being
Appearance:
Nazar is a man who's appearance evokes a multitude of reactions. Jealousy, anger, respect, adoration, sexual - they're all there. Why? Well...
..his eyes are a icy hue of blue, like the stormy waves that might surround a polar ice cap. So full of expression, they hide nothing, leaving his emotion bare to the eyes, hard like crystaline ice when he's anger, soft like foaming sea caps when he's feeling seductive - which is often, considering he's a womanizer - wide open to show mirth or surprise, and narrowed slits when pissed. His eyes truely are the windows to his soul.
Those eyes are set in a handsome tanned face - strong sharp lines, imbued with charisma and intelligence, and a hawkish nose that has a tendency to turn up in arrogance, centered between high cheekbones. A goatee sweeps under his chin, giving him the appearance of being older than he really is. However, there's a bit of mystery...that being the white mask on the right side of his face that hides it from the world, a rather Phantom of the Opera-esque aura that adds to his enigmatic appearance. Surprisingly, and unexpected from one related to Water Tribes, his hair is a vivid crimson, sweeping to his shoulders and framing his face, the continuing further down his back, a most striking feature. Not typically a trait seen anywhere at all, the crimson of his hair a byproduct of a drug he ingested in a dingy bar in the Fire Nation, near the docks. ...why it changed his hair color, he has no idea, but he loves the change.
Nazar is not particularly a tall man, being only 5'6" and he's slim, albeit being built very athletic, with the corded muscle and trimness built from sailing a ship, swinging, climbing, and lifting constantly. And let's not forget...fighting, all of which contributes to the hardened bronzed hue of his body, a deep tan garnered under the sun of the open seas.
As far as clothing goes, when relaxing or in privacy, etc, he can be found barefoot and in simple loose pants and a sleeveless shirt. However, unless he's dressed down in order to conceal his appearance, he wears navy pants, boots, an elegant white shirt with frills at the end of the sleeve which matches the white gloves he usually adorns, and a rather gorgeous navy jacket that drops just past his knees, accented with gold trim and shoulder lapels. His wide brimmed flat hat fits the scheme, also navy with gold accents. All clothing allow him a full range of motion.
And more often than not, you can find him with a cigar and a glass of rum.

Bending:
Nazar is a water bender, not yet a master, but very much experienced. His skill with water bending has taking him to a level that is difficult to master - ice bending. It is a skill that arose out of - surprisingly, anger...and his skill in it grew in leaps and bounds. However, the anger that fuels this skill is not the type of anger so useful to firebending, but a controlled cold anger. The calmness of his waterbending is only in his hand to hand combat, typically his actual waterbending is great gushing, sweeping attacks. He's more likely to wash someone away, than hit them with a whip of water. Nazar's capabilities also extend further, to being able to pull water from trees and plantlife, to being able to freeze liquid within a human's body, to being able to bend water to snow, rain, hail, and being able to freeze water then make it explode.
Weapons:
Primarily, you will find a curved scimtar sheathed at his side, although he's also well versed in using spears - more particularly, harpoons used as a spear. In addition to this, through his ice bending, he can create any weapon of his imagination, which usually end up being ice versions of the weapons he uses most, a scimtar and a harpoon. However, from time to time, he's used a curved hook on either hand and a giant spiked ball as well - both created from ice.
Combat Style:
Nazar is an offensive type, utilizing water and ice as though they were simply extensions of himself. When bending water in combat, his stances resemble that of a normal water bender, however when he bends ice, his actions actually seem to mirror that of firebenders. Less of a defensive combatant, he is better at dodging and parrying, rather than directly defending - which is his main weakness. He is capable of creating weapons made of ice on the fly, and in hand to hand, ice erupts from his hands just like a firebender. Calm and cool headed on the norm, sometimes he loses his temper, empowering him beyond normal, but causing him to lose track of reality.
Nazar's ablities extend beyond the normal water bender's too, as he is capable of drawing the liquid from plant life to bend. With a high level of effort and energy, he is also capable of freezing the liquid in a living body, plant, animal or human with the exception of blood which carries too high of an iron content for him to freeze at this point in his skill. One of his favorite capabilities, which no one else has shown to be able to do so far, is freezing the latent water within objects then violently expanding the ice which results in smokeless, flameless, explosions of that object.
Also able to create icy fog, hail, and snow, he's able to use it as a blanket to wipe out vision and deaden sound, as well as dramatic effect - and sometimes, just for fun. On a side note, Nazar often bends while he's drinking, which sometimes works out more profitably than one would think.

Personality:
Let's just say Nazar is a complicated man. Or even, let's go a little further and say he's a determined man, because his personality is based in determination and stems from such. Even as a child, once he set his tight little lips and made up his mind to do something, nothing would sway him..in a manner of speaking of course. Thus, as a man, what he sets his mind to do, will be done.
Now this is not to say that he's all stern and stiff - quite the contrary. Nazar loves fun, enjoys fun, and feels that he will wither away and die without it. Mischevious to a fault, a sparkling grin often covers his face just before a prank will be played.
But, like any person, there are skeletons hidden in his emotional closet. A hatred for the two father figures in his life has brought about an attitude such that, he feels outrage toward a father mistreating a child. An anger within bubbles up in the event of a valid reason, and once his anger is released, there is no cure...none except that of his own choosing.
In addition, Nazar has an incredible sense of charisma. For those whom he feels close to, and oftentimes complete strangers, feel drawn to Nazar, regardless of if they know who he is or not. His crewmen feel especially attached to him, regardless of how he may treat them. Even the victims of his raids feel a certain urge toward him, despite how much they may hate him.
Beyond that, last but not least, the other main facet of Nazar's personality is his absolute nonchalance toward taking other people's property. As a child, he never had anything, was never given anything, even down to having to fight with other children over the few scraps of food he was given as a meal. As a result, as far as he is concerned...anything he see's that he wants, taking it is no problem. It's why he became a pirate. But dont be mistaken...it's not about the wealth, he doesnt do it to stockpile gold, money, or jewels. Rather he does it for the pleasure of taking other people's belongings - that, and nothing more. Perhaps it seems a bit hypocritical for him to land and raid an entire village and burn it to the ground, but who knows what lurks in the mind of a man.
Perhaps you can figure it out; talk to him and you will see.
History:
Ah, where to begin.
Let's start with the beautiful love affair of a Northern Water Tribe Warrior and a Southern Water Tribe woman. Not so much the affair, but the fact that their one glorious night of romance and love-making resulting in a pregancy...and who doesnt love a child? ...The wife of that warrior, and the husband of that woman, that's who.
And, understandably, they wanted to keep their tribal leaders from knowing - for if they found out, the shame and disgrace would be monumental. So, the woman, thinking she would lose her husband, and thus her status, begged and pleaded with her husband to stay with her and she would do anything - god only knows what price she paid for that. The Northern Tribe warrior simply demanded that his wife never tell a soul, and she had no choice but to obey. But the real price was paid by Nazar, he was sent back and forth between north and south, everybody under the impression that he was a distant relative come to visit. But truly, within the confines of the home, whether in the north or in the south, he was treated like shit. Neither family wanted to accept him and so they made him a poor miserable outcast who came to want nothing to do with either family.
In the south, he learned to fight, not because they taught him as a warrior, but because he watched them in secret, and most importantly because he had to defend himself against the boys in the village, the children of his parents, and even the grown men in the village. In the north, he learned water bending, not because he was taught by hs father, but because an elderly bum within the tribe took pity on Nazar, and taught him all that he knew.
But what child could continue doing this, year in and year out? Not Nazar, and by the age of 11, he'd had enough. When the next foreign ship came by - a Fire Nation scout boat, he stowed away. And thus, his adventures began. He was eventually discovered by the men aboard the ship and luckily, they didnt mistreat him too much, putting him to work onboard. For a year he served them, but the second the ship passed just outside the borders of the Earth Kingdom, he jumped ship, making his way into the Earth Kingdom. While there, he worked on the docks as a sailor for hire. Eventually a random incursion carried him into the Foggy Swamp and he met the Water Benders there. At first a little suspicious, soon their pleasant natures grew on him and he spent more and time in the swamp, learning from them and more importantly, loosening the cold grasp his hatred had on his heart.
On one of his travels though, the ship he was on docked in the Fire Nation and who should he see coming off a prison boat, but his biological father. Having been so far away from his homes and having become a somewhat joyful person with the Swamp benders, he ran over to him with a cry. ...what a mistake. Even chained, his father spat in his face and beat him viciously. It was something he would never forget. At age 14, it stuck with him. And so, he turned his back on the world, on politics, on wars, and became a pirate. He raided Fire Nation, Earth Nation and Water Tribes and even looted Air Temples for priceless relics - resulting in his being wanted in nearly every land he's set foot in. This continued on through the ongoing war, up until Sozin's Comet, at which time he was age 16 and so on.
He continues, to this day.
His ship is called the Krimson Kraken and is a work of mechanical genius, capable of sky flight, surface sailing and shallow undersea diving. Nazar designed it himself after stealing some experimental blueprints from the Fire Nation and with the aid of but a few men, put it together on a deserted island in a few months. Right now however, the Krimson Kraken is being repaired since it was nearly destroyed during a raid against the Earth Kingdom, and most of his crew decimated. For now, he gets around on a smaller skyship called the Kraken's Spawn so for the moment, the world - and it's possessions - are safe.
