/Basic Info\
Name: Heshioru, Kasei (Last, First)
Age: 26
Alias: The Marionette Mistress
Nation: Earth Nation
Occupation: Puppet Master, Playwrite
Political Standpoint/Allegiance: Anti-Fire Nation, part of the Earthen Syndicate
Appearance:
I apologize for the chibi, but this really is the best I drew of Kasei. Also, please ignore the wonky angle.
Brown, straight hair falls down to her shoulder blades, and is tucked back by two odd, points hair clips (which may or may not contain sand inside of them, no one has gotten close enough to them to be sure). Her eyes are a clear green, but always have a dull set to them, like she's not really paying attention. Her skin is pale, and her lips thin. She wears a light green dress, that naturally ends a few inches above her knees. The edges are pulled towards her right side, where two circlular clips hold the fabric together, and a strip falls to dangle below her knees. Gray-green leg warmers fall to her feet, a strip keeping them steady on the arch. Otherwise she is barefoot. Fingerless gloves of the same color adorn her hands.
/Combat Structure\
Bending: Earthbender, intermediate
Weapons: She is talented with a bow and arrow, but really would prefer just to Earthbend, thank you very much.
Combat Style: Kasei always seems cold and immobile, her face normally a blank mask and her voice generally only giving the slightest hint of emotion. Thus, her tendency of giving her bending personality is a shock to enemies who have never faced her before. Her favorite method of attacking is to make creatures out of rock and sand, and then have them move around as if they had minds of their own. She has two main personalities she uses, like recurring characters in a play. One is a great, intimidating sort of attitude, where size and manner all suggest that the enemy has no chance. The other is a trickster that avoids being hit and scores small hits, all while appearing to laugh and tease the opponent. A sure fire way to piss off someone. Other than these, what she choices is generally a surprise, even going so far as to make several creatures and having them appear to interact with both the enemy and each other.
When not able to create her puppets, Kasei is still a very mid-range fighter, preferring to keep the enemy away with attacks that come unexpectedly from the ground, or to bend projectiles, that, when they do miss, turn and act similar to homing missiles.
/Biography\
Personality: Like stated above, Kasei often seems rather blank. She seems rational to the point of being unable to grasp anything outside the box. Her main way of 'arguing', if you could call it that, would be to point out the facts, and then if the issue persists, to simply stare at the person until they give, only occasionally repeating anything she's already said, and even less occasionally making a new point. Surprisingly, this is an effective method, mostly because it just makes the other person feel uncomfortable enough to simply drop the argument.
On the inside, however, Kasei seems to hold almost a running commentary, mentally marking down reactions to certain situations. She sees everything as if it was a play, and uses what she observes in the people she's around to evolve her characters. 'People watching' is a favorite pastime of hers, and can be rather creepy to be around her, though most of her co-workers have adapted to her staring. Also, Kasai seems to treat people more like ink on paper than actual human beings. She will often manipulate people in subtle ways, using her reputation as truthful and rational to make people believe what she says is the truth. In doing this, she makes people react like she would like her characters to, and gets a bit of amusement out of it as well.
Despite all this, Kasei is very loyal to the group, as well as to her country. To her the Fire Nation is the antagonist of a story, and, as a protagonist (even if more of a supporting role then anything major, though she may be working her way up to that) it is her duty to stop them. At all costs.
History: Kasei grew up in Ba Sing Sei, an only child to two wealthy entrepreneurs. To avoid thinking of any possible war, and both being fans of the theater, they would go to the Ba Sing Sei Theater at least twice a week. Like her parents, she loved everything about the plays. The human reactions, the drama, the suspense, and most of all how they can fit life onto a tiny stage and into characters that came out of someone's head. At six, she began trying to write her own screenplays. Of course, at first they were no good, but she quickly evolved, and at the age of twelve she sent in a original play to the Ba Sing Sei Theater under a pseudonym. It was a success, both in that the theater choice to act out the play, and with audiences. From then on, she continued to write in an almost obsessive way. Her parents were surprisingly supportive of the choice in career, despite having initially wanted her to take over the company. But, considering her talent, and their love for the arts, they encouraged her all they could.
Her earthbending skills were discovered at age nine, but for the first year or so, Kasei ignored the talent. She initially thought of it as uncultured and brutish. However, at ten, she realized that her bending could be used for fluid puppetry. This not only began her career as a force to be quite wary of, but started her 'people watching', so that she could use body language as a substitute for words. This also translated well into her plays. At age sixteen, Kasei began conducting a puppet show in her house. Her shows sold well to the younger crowd (though, sold was a rather relative term, as her parents didn't allow her to charge for admission), and she gained a bit of fame in the theater. Around this time, it was revealed that she was the author of the anonymous plays that kept getting used by the theater.
As soon as she turned 18, the Ba Sing Sei Theater gave her the option of working for them, which she took in an instant. Despite her seemingly blank nature, her puppet shows and plays were amazing, presenting human nature in new and interesting ways. She wrote everything from comedy to action, romance to political pieces. All the while she kept up with the earth marionettes, now thrilled (in a Kasei sort of way) to have talented voice actors to go with them. Because of her success, and the nature of backstage of plays, she got along quite well with the others in the theater.
At twenty one, the presence of the Avatar triggered the acceptance of the war, and because of this, theater visits became far more scarce. Kasei blamed the Fire Nation entirely for this, and began working on adapting her bending to a more attack based style. Even the defeat of Ozai did not stop her growing hatred of the Fire Nation, and at twenty three she gathered up all the money she had earned with her pays and shows (which is a large total, to be sure) and began traveling, looking for like minds. She struck gold in Omashu, and immediately joined the Earthen Syndicate. Her odd fighting style and blunt manner made her unpredictable, a important tool in finding and destroying those of the Fire Nation.
Her history is bland, she knows. But that was just the introduction, and now is the rising action. And soon, the climax of this story will be upon the Fire Nation. Only then can a satisfying conclusion be reached.
