;;build
Azula, after years in an asylum, has lost some of her initial muscle build but is gaining it back and her muscles retain some prominence. She’s gotten taller but is still slightly shorter than most around her. The presence of Azula, though, more than makes up for her lack of height and it seems when she walks the seas could part before her as crowds so often do.
;;attributes
Azula has long coal black hair, nearly waist length by now, and has lost its deranged look; her bangs were cut even by staff of the asylum, for what reason they wouldn’t disclose, but she assumed it was something about awakening memories. Her eyes are bright golden, shining in the sun light. Once they gleamed with over confidence and a sense of contempt for humanity; but now they are curiously dead and remain so, no matter what emotion lingers underneath. Her nails, after some growth, were filed into claws, and her teeth filed into sharp points. She no longer doubt the important of weapons and has made herself one as much as possible.
;;clothing
Azula doesn’t care what she looks like anymore, and maintains the robes she wore when escaping from the asylum. It was once a long Kimono that slid about the floor, the cheery bright pink of cherry blossoms with white trim. Beneath it was a short white under dress, plain. By now, the pink has almost faded completely, and Azula promptly took a knife and cropped off the bottom until it ended just a few inches below her knees, and know is very messy and torn, a few stray strands hanging and many strings still loose. The sleeves are long and conceal her hands, but the white trim on the ends are wearing off and there are quite a few rips and the occasional patch of burnt cloth. At her side hangs two tasseled Tessen. Her footwear is commonly Geta.

Bending:
Fire Bender [Prodigy]
Weapons:
Her bending; her martial arts; learning Tessenjutsu and so has two Tessen at her side
Combat Style:
Like most Fire Benders, Azula’s style derives mainly from Northern Shaolin, but modified to her own personal preferences. Rather than open-palmed bending or closed fisted, she only bends with two fingers. While being skilled with bending, Azula also has skill in Martial Arts and can stand up quite well without her bending. For awhile now, she’s been learning Tessenjutsu, understanding the importance of weapons rather than relying on her bending.
She has mastered Fire Bending, her apathy and general emotional detachment giving her an advantage and not making anger her main outlet, but rather the ‘pure’ way and the only way Azula finds physically possible; self discipline. Her apathy allows her to create lightning with relative ease and has no need to put herself in a state of inner peace; already separated from emotions, she has a sort of stunted peace of mind.
[/u];;[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/font]&&BIOGRAPHY
Personality:
Azula, with her time learning about emotional disorders and better and more solid ways to control rather than fear, has become a wholly more deadly person.
She has learned the value of ‘friends’ and developing relationships built upon trust. She’s still working on this, but no longer relies on only fear to control her subject. She is still a dedicated Nationalist and strives to overthrowing Fire Lord Zuko, and is having trouble accepting that her older brother, whom she always bested, beat her. She has promised it won’t happen again.
She has mastered Fire Bending, her apathy and general emotional detachment giving her an advantage and not making anger her main outlet, but rather the ‘pure’ way and the only way Azula finds physically possible; self discipline. Her apathy allows her to create lightning with relative ease and has no need to put herself in a state of inner peace; already separated from emotions, she has peace of mind. It’s this that makes her the tactician that she is; perception and resourcefulness allows her to predict the actions of most any person under any situation. She knows instinctively how different people will react under different kinds of pressure or in different scenarios, and how they might think.
Azula’s greatest flaw would be her inability to trust others; she had clung stubbornly to the belief that fear was the only reliable way to ensure loyalty and prevent betrayal, and after the betrayal of Mai and Ty Lee, was driven into a state of paranoia that drove her to lose the battle against Zuko and sent her into complete insanity.
After her recovery, though, she is learning the values of ‘trust’ and ‘friendship’, even if her own would be false. She has become a wholly more dangerous person by overcoming her insecurities and the need of ‘friends’ and is even more emotionally detached than she had once been. Rather than being quick to a fiery rage, complete with tantrums and what not, she has attained the coldness of a razor blade and rather than being a raging storm of fury, her anger has become quiet, something almost elegant, but you can always tell by the sickly sweet qualities that her voice takes on. Rarely does she raise her voice anymore.
In fact, all of her emotions are terribly limited; happiness is nearly nonexistent beyond a slight smile, and other such emotions are similar. Only a slight change in her demeanor could betray the emotions boiling beneath the surface.
[Couldn’t think of much else to add. I’ll work on it through-out the RP, as more is revealed, but is this suitable?]
History:
Born to Fire Lord Ozai around two years after her brother, her birth was not hailed and celebrated as Zuko’s was. Zuko was a Prince, firstborn, and a boy. She was the second born, naught but a Princess who hadn’t the possibility of power. She was the Great Granddaughter of both Fire Lord Sozin on Ozai’s Side and Avatar Roku on Ursa’s side, but Zuko was as well and the importance of her birth was largely diminished.
Zuko overshadowed her for a long time, until the time came when they would both be tested for Fire Bending. They both possessed it, but Azula’s was more prominent; and, held there in the palm of her hand, it was blue.
It was obvious Azula was a prodigy and was advancing at an amazing rate. She was taught by the most prestigious masters in the Fire Nation, and was the greatest Fire Bender they had ever seen. She was eight when she first created Lightning. Ozai paid his attention wholly to her, and she felt great pleasure when watching him with that lost look on his face as she had watched him. It was obvious, though, that Ursa favored Zuko and gave him all the love and attention he could ever want. And to further this, Ozai was incapable of dispensing true love or affection. She then created the illusion that her mother feared her and saw her as a monster, and so developed tendencies for maliciousness and perfectionism.
She began to think that the only reliable way for control or devotion was fear, and her closest ‘friends’ Mai and Ty Lee followed her mainly out of fear and seemed to tolerate her cruel tendencies. They learned not to best her and to simply fade into the background while letting Azula stand out.
After watching her brother be savagely burnt by Ozai, she felt nothing but pure triumph.
When Zuko was banished, Ozai instantly called Azula to his chambers. “You will be named the new Heir.” He said very simply, and she knelt. The next day was her ceremony.
[paraphrasing the series, sorry for crappiness]
As the series shows, Azula is sent hunting the Avatar since her brother had clearly failed to do so. She first encounters him in Omashu and engages him in battle. Afterwards, she names the Avatar her personal target along with Zuko and Iroh, dubbed ‘traitors’, and enlists the help of her closest ‘friends’ Mai and Ty Lee. Mai had been living in Omashu, dubbed ‘New Ozai’, the daughter of a prominent noble family, and Ty Lee had taken part in a traveling circus. The three took on the hunt together. For a length of time, she is shown hunting the Avatar, and enters Ba Sing Se, following his trail and disguising herself as Kyoshi warriors. She assumes control over the Dai Li, overthrows the Earth King, and is sidetracked by her conquest. Eventually, she manages to convince Zuko to join her and he betrays his uncle. Iroh is sent to prison.
A battle follows in the catacombs and Azula mortally wounds the Avatar while he is in the Avatar State but does not take credit for his murder. Instead, she gives Zuko the credit, and it is revealed that she uses this as a control method; should the Avatar turn up alive, Zuko’s ‘redemption’ and his honor would turn to shame.
During the Solar Eclipse [‘The Day of Black Sun’] Azula serves as a distraction to keep the Avatar and his friends from Ozai, with Dai Li agents to aid her. Afterwards, she journeys to the Boiling Rock with Mai and Ty Lee. When the prisoners attempt their escape, Mai assists them while striking down the guards. Azula attacks Mai and is stopped by Ty Lee, who are then both incarcerated and sent to Prison for their crimes. Azula falls into insanity and states of Paranoia. On the day of Sozin’s comet, she is seen banishing all of her servants, believing they would betray her as Mai and Ty Lee did. When she is about to be crowned, Zuko arrives and challenges her to an Agni Kai, claiming that she is ‘slipping’.
While she and Zuko battle, she is seen using giant wasteful bursts of flame, and tires quickly. Zuko makes a remark about lightning, and Azula conjures up her lightning, but sends it at Katara. Zuko threw himself in front of it, leaving him incapacitated. A battle between Katara and Azula follows, but Katara freezes them in a block of ice and chains Azula. With cries of rage and defeat, she lets bursts of flame from her mouth uncontrollably and isn’t seen from that point forth.
[end crappy series paraphrasing; begin crappy history writing. XD]
Azula, from that point onward, was sent to a Mental Health Facility and made her escape after almost five years of being ‘a good girl’ and gaining the trust of staff. She kept herself in shape as best she could, though, and eventually made her escape.
Upon reaching Fire Nation soil, she instantly fled in search of the rebellion. She never found the actually rebellion, but while wandering through one of the towns, a member recognized her and took her back to their base. It was an underground facility, much like the Earth Kingdom rebellions had been, and had a large supply of weapons and supplies. The loyalists, all of the generals and nobles and soldiers, had taken their place there and she instantly assumed command of them. No protests arose and Azula instantly began training and getting herself back into shape. Within a month, she had regained mastery of her Fire Bending and lightning, and her build had regained its musculature.
It was then that she realized the important of weapons and went into the vault, returning with two Tessen and demanding a master to teach her. She learned more advanced attacks than the Kyoshi warriors ever knew, and learned to channel Fire Bending and Lightning through the Tessen. Along with this, she gained back her prominence with Martial Arts and learned to wield different weapons to an acceptable extent, her Tessen being her main concentration, and slowly understanding the art of Pressure Points an chi.
Overall, Azula became a more deadly person in the time spent with the rebellion, learning Tessenjutsu, overcoming her paranoia and exercising the importance of ‘trust’ and ‘friendship’. And, while gaining more loyalists to aid their cause, including soldiers and weapons, she is beginning to realize her goal of overthrowing her brother. Ah, but in the back of her mind, she wonders, what has become of her dear father?
