Overall, Zanisha is a very well rounded fighter with intermediate close combat fighting skills with her daggers and high intermediate fighting with her firebending. With her life revolving around fighting others, Zana has become quite good at it despite her young age.
/Biography\
Personality: : Before she was shut away in the Fire Nation Zana had been a happy, kind, and hardworking and determined Firebender. Even though Zana is still hard-working and determined, she is now reserved and doesn’t trust others too well. As for being kind, well you wouldn’t see that side of her until she knew you well enough to trust her. Zana always has her guard up, no matter where she is or what she’s doing. So, you’d have to be careful what you say and do around her. Also, the Raikou has a quick temper and isn’t afraid to show it.
History: : Many people had been awaiting the birth of the next Raikou child. The Raikou family is a wealthy line of pure firebenders who always have been a major part of the war and became famed nobles. In face about a century ago, a Raikou had been there as a general during the invasion of the Air temples. However, there were horrible stories about the Raikou family. One of them being that they current couple would only accept to conceive a boy. If the child was a girl, she would be slayed by the father following birth. Another being that they would train the child the second it began bending, turning it into a cold-blooded killer. Unfortunately, both of these stories were true, and that was only the half of it. For years it seemed as the Raikou family was immortal, until a couple months before Zana’s birth.
6 months into pregnancy, Zanisha’a dad Taiyo was KIA. Being an only child, the only hope of the famed Raikou family’s survival rested on the shoulders of Taiyo’s unborn child. 3 months and a couple days later came the day of infamy when the child was born. That day, everything that could have went wrong, did. First, when the child was born, it killed her mom. Second, it was a girl.
Normally, the father would have killed her immediaty. However, because there was no father and she was the only child, Zanisha was left to live. When thebaby Raikou was ready to be brought home she was raised by another wealthy family who also had just born a child as well. The family was watched constantly and Zana was never let out of the house. She was both home-schooled and overprotected. There, she lived a happy life and they named Zanisha. Finally, just about 8 years later, Zana was angry at her “mom” because she didn’t allow her to go play ball outside with her “brother” and began to stomp around the house. By doing so, she caused fire to come out from her feet, scorching the floor and shocking her “mother”. About an hour later Fire Nation military showed up at their door and took her away. From that day forward her life could never be the same.
They took the newly discovered firebender to an isolated training camp where she received harsh training, despite her young age. The “goal” as everyone was to have her be able to be just as powerful as a boy ever could be. By age 15, even though Zanisha was very efficient with her bending, which was supposed to be the meaning of her life as she was told over and over, there was a lot of things Zana hated. For one thing, she hated never being allowed to go outside or play with other kids her age. Or even do anything other train in her free time and just have some time to simply be normal. For inside she really was just a teen who wanted more out of life than just power. In fact, every night Zanisha wished she hadn’t been born a firebender. Finally, one night she made a decision that had crossed her mind so many times before; she was going to run away.
The next day Zanisha grabbed a small backpack of necessities that she had packed during the night and was surprised to find the training prison as she called it in which she was being kept, empty. Unlike usual, the place was NOT filled with guards and such. Once outside, sort of confused, the young Raikou stopped. What caused her to stop was so incredible it caused her legs to go numb and her mouth to drop. Outside were large groups of fire nation soldiers and citizens. She stopped and was stunned at the amazement of it all, a bad decision. When she stopped to look around, she saw a group of soldiers all heading towards the center of the capital. Now Zana, being a curious kid, decided to follow them; another bad choice. When Zana got to where everyone was headed to, her eyes widened. There must have been every solider in the fire nation capital gathered there. And you know why they were there? To burn and kill a group of Fire Nation traitors.
Zana didn’t know the details, but from what she heard, a group of firebending rebels had been caught trying to assassinate the Fire Lord. And this was their punishment. Right here in the heart of the Fire Nation, people were celebration the killing of others in this gruesome way. Seeing this scared the teenage Zana, causing her to run, hands over her ears to block out the sounds of fire, the screaming of the rebels, and cheering of the crowd. Of course, because that’s her life, Zana just happened to run right into her cruel sensei. When she did, he immediately hauled her back to the training prison.
As soon as both of them were inside, Zana’s trainer gave Zanisha a long lecture of how things “worked” in the fire nation. However, this only made Zana angry. “How could they do that to other people” she thought, “And keep everything like that about the war away from me like that.” And so, right then and there Zana told him that she didn’t want to do this anymore. That she didn’t want to be the fire nation’s weapon. That she didn’t want to do harsh and strict training everyday. But most importantly, that she would never firebend for these people ever again. And you know what her trainer did in response, he beat her.
Sure Zana had been screamed at and yelled at and threatened, and pushed past her limit, but never beat. And when she was hit, at first she was confused on how to react. So, with a look in her eyes that clearly said, “What the Hell was that for?” she sent a punch to his face. Unfortunately though, her trainer was much stronger than her in her current state and easily overpowered her, making sure to get a few good hits in as a punishment from trying to hit him, an act that apparently both showed disobedience and disloyalty towards the Fire Nation. After that he practically threw her in a cell that was downstairs saying that of she was going to act this way, then she didn’t deserve to go to her room.
After that night Zana was shunned by everyone around her, only being talked to in a harsh and distasteful tone during her seemingly stricter than before, training. Also, every time she couldn’t do something, messed up, or did anything wrong she was beaten. These people weren’t trying to simply train her anymore, they were also trying to break her. But that only made Zanisha’s attitude harden. Now, the young teen talked back, fought with all figures of authority and grew hateful to a lot of people.
Finally after a few months, Zana’s amazing progress had stopped and she was only becoming a burden. Because of her dramatic halt in improvement and her new attiude, it was decided by “higher authorities” that she would be discarded of. After all, Zana was a weapon to these people. That’s it. And if a weapon didn’t work right, you get rid of it. Over the course of a few months, Zana had turned into a smart-ass brat with a grudge who doesn’t know when to shut-up.
One day, the night before her execution was to take place, Zansiha was awake in her cell as usual tending to a new burn from training. Suddenly, she heard this insane racket coming down the hall, catching her attention. And so, Zana quickly jumped up on her feet in a ready position, heart beating out of her chest and eyes narrowed into slits. Then a flash of hot bright fire flew at the lock on her gate aimed perfectly to weaken it. After that, a dark hooded figure dressed in black slashed at the lock with a sword and if fell right off.
At all of this, Zanisha backed up against the far wall of the cell. “What the hell is going on?” she said in an angry threatened tone.
“Quiet.” The stranger said in a hushed voice. “Follow me.”
“Is this freak serious?” the teenager thought before saying, “Why would I ever trust you, you could kill me!”
“Shut up you indolent brat.” The stranger retorted back. And then in an instant it moved behind Zana and put a dagger at her throat before saying, “But you have a point. I could kill you, but then all of this would be pointless. However, I can tell you this, if you do stay here, you will die. Zana, these people want to kill you tonight.”
The teenage firebender froze in a cold sweat. “kill me.” She said, the words shaking themselves out in a cracked voice. Then, after swallowing hard, she replied, “Ok. I’m with you but…”
But that was all the stranger wanted to hear because at that, the hooded figure cut Zana off and said, “Good, now don’t say a word and follow me.” Before walking out of the cell.
Finally, after what seemed like hours not minutes to the teenage Raikou, the dagger was pulled away from her throat. After taking a deep breath, she followed the stranger out of her former “home”. It was amazing, she had taken out all the guards that would have got in the way. Zana’s head was buzzing with questions she was dying to ask her new ally. Within minuets they were out. But Zanisha couldn’t enjoy the time outside for the second they got out she was forced to follow the stranger at a running pace. Now Zansiha was breathing hard from running and just when she thought she going to collapse, they stopped at a sewer.
“You must be kidding.” Zanisha said, detesting the idea of going down the smelly hole in the ground.
“Well its either this or you can die,” the stranger told her. “And I suggest you decide quickly, because I’m going in.”
And so with a frustrated grunt, Zanisha followed the stranger into the sewers. It was disgusting and dark, for they were only being led by the small light the fireballs that they held in their hands produced. What felt like hours later, they arrived at a wall with another ladder on it.
“Almost there.” The stranger said with a relieved voice. “Just up this ladder.
Proceeding to climb up the slippery latter Zanisha winced when the stranger pushed open the top causing bright light to flood onto the odd pair. But after climbing out of the sewers when Zanisha’s eyes re-adjusted to the light, she couldn’t believe what she saw.
They were in the woods and all around her were other people of all shapes and sized with tattered clothes. However, the two things they had in common were that they all were cheering and smiling brightly upon her arrival. And they all had the same rebellion headbands on that the couple rebellion members that were being burned that one night wore so long ago.
Zanisha was so confused, she didn’t know how to react to all off this. It was too much and it sure was giving her a headache. “Ugh, what?” were the only two sounds that came out of her. After all she was exhausted and didn’t have the energy to say much else. Seeing and hearing Zana, the hooded stranger pulled down the hood that was concealing her face and said, “I’m sorry for not introducing myself, but I had to get you out of there fast. They probably know your gone by now. My name is Taila, I know, odd for a firebender. But I was born and raised within this rebellion. Your mother had been a good friend of mine since the day she spared my life so many years ago. She asked me to protect you from the war and fire nation if she gave birth to a girl before she died.”
At this Zanisha got angry and replied, “But then how come you couldn’t come earlier if it was this easy to get me out of there!? Do you know how horrible that place was?! They hurt me, every day, while you just sat here on your ass and waited 15 years.”
“I know your upset.” Taila replied, “But it wasn’t easy there were so many precautions we had to take to get you out, we almost did once but we went to the wrong place. We thought they had you in the palace, not some training prison. We lost all of our men on the attempt that day.” Pausing a second, she along with the other members of the rebellion took the time to bow their heads in respect before she continued, “And just to save you. You can never understand how hard we’ve been trying to help you.”
“I’m sorry.” Zanisha said, “I’m just tired. Is their some place I can sleep?”
“And you have a right to be.” Taila said before explaining that there was a sleeping hut to the right.
That was all Zana needed to know. Within minuets she was in the hut, in a bed, an actual bed. For the first time in years, she fell fast asleep. Since that day Taila and Zana’s relationship have been like mother and daughter. Zana had never had a mother, and this was nice. After Zana healed up, Taila brought Zana to Omashu, then dubbed "New Ozai" where the head of the Fire Nation rebellion is so they could officially let her join the rebellion.
When she reached Omashu, she was first introduced to the leader of the rebbelion Jeng Song. He was a brillient man, 37 years old yet young at heart. Naturally, he was an amazing earthbender, the best Zana had ever seen. There were only two firebenders in the whole earthkingdom rebbelion; her and Taila. Her and the leader grew close over time as well as Jeng Song's other favorite, Luxa Hikori. Zana had always been friednly towards Luxa, even tho the earthbender had not always been the same to her. Luxa had thought of her an an enemy and a rival. Of course, Zana was excited about having a rival, but she was in no way interested in having an enemy. After all, she already had a whole nation against her. But as time passed the two grew close until the point that they were like sisters. They fought as if they could read eachothers minds and it wasn't a surprise that Luxa had chosen Zana to be her second in command when she became the new ruler of the Earth Kingdom rebbellion.
5 years has past since the Avatar had brought down the Fire Lord and his terrible reign over the world. But Zana's life had only gotten more complicated. She alwats had and always will have the burning hate towards her original nation from the pain they have caused her. There was no way she could simply forget that pain. All over the Fire Nation there are still many loyal firebenders who have joined the Fire Nation rebellion led by Azula herself. It's rebbellion vs rebbellion and as second in comand, it's Zana's job to do all she can to help take the Fire Nation down for good.
